The Wisdom of Paris Hilton
I’m always fascinated by rich, spoiled celebrities who, when they speak, prove they have no touch with reality. They say things they think are intelligent or insightful but simply prove they are sallow and clueless. There is no better case for this than Paris Hilton. Give her a break. Her lack of sense about the real would is due to her growing up spoiled and pampered her whole life. After all, how can you grow up in a fantasy environment as she has and really know anything.
These are all quotes I found reported in various places. I apologize to Ms. Hilton if these are not correct, but they sound right.
“People are going to judge me: ”Paris Hilton, she uses money to get what she wants.” Whatever, I haven’t accepted money from my parents since I was 18. I’ve worked my ass off. I have things no heiress has. I’ve done it all on my own, like a hustle.” - Los Angeles Times, Aug. 18, 2006
I’m sure, for her, she has worked her “ass off”. But in the larger picture, she doesn’t understand what real work is. Not many of us can get record and album or get a staring role in a movie or TV show just because of out name and pretty face.
“The way I see it, you should live everyday like its your birthday”
Oh yeah, right! If you are rich beyond belief, you can live that way, and make sure you flaunt in in the face of all those who were not lucky enough to be born into a family fortune.
“No matter what a woman looks like, if she’s confident, she’s sexy.”
This is probably one of those attempts to feel good about herself. She knows how luck she is to be a beautiful, skinny, rich girl and somewhere in the back of her mind, it makes her feel guilty for all those who are not as lucky as her. Therefor she blurts out a patronizing comment to make all the lonely, shy, plump girls a little self confidence.
“A true heiress is never mean to anyone – except a girl who steals your boyfriend”
This one speaks for itself.
“There’s nobody in the world like me. I think every decade has an iconic blonde — like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana — and right now, I’m that icon.” – Yahoo News, Jul. 17, 2006
Another comment that needs no explaination.
“I don’t really think, I just walk.”
You think that just might be the problem?
“It’s traditional for an heiress to be raised in a sheltered way. No one thinks that’s true of me, but it actually was.”
No Paris, we all think you were raised in a sheltered way. In fact, I don’t think that is a doubt in anyone’s mind.
“It hurts that, you know, the media’s made me into sort of this like punching bag or cartoon character–they think that I don’t have any feelings, and, you know, it hurts like anyone else.” – TMZ interview, Jul. 19, 2006
You wonder how anyone in this day and age would not see that this happens to ALL CELEBRITIES. Hey Paris, if you are going to put yourself in the public eye, you will get screwed by the press. That’s the way it works. Get a real job and life a normal life and the press would never hurt your feelings,
“I’m totally normal. I think it’s obnoxious when people demand limos or bodyguards. I eat at McDonald’s or Taco Bell. My parents always taught us to be humble. We’re not spoiled.”
Whatever!
“I don’t enjoy going out anymore … It’s such a pain. It’s everyone saying, ‘Let’s do a deal! Can I have a picture?’ I’m just, like, ‘These people are such losers. I can’t believe I used to love doing this.” – FOXNews.com, Jun. 14, 2005
It funny, now that she has decided not to be part of the scene anymore, the ones that still are have become losers. Many of them are just trying to make a living, but Paris really doesn’t have to worry about that, does she.
“I first wanted to be a veterinarian. And then I realised you had to give them shots to put them to sleep, so I decided I’d just buy a bunch of animals and have them in my house instead.” – Guardian Unlimited, Jul. 8, 2006
Umm . . . ok
“I don’t think there’s ever been anyone like me that’s lasted. And I’m going to keep lasting.” - Los Angeles Times, Aug. 18, 2006
You know, I bet everyone who has not lasted thought the same think. Of course, Paris has a edge. With unlimited wealth, she just might last.
“I don’t want to be known as the Hilton heiress, because I didn’t do anything for that.” - Guardian Unlimited, Jul. 8, 2006
Let follow that up with the next one
“I’m like an American princess.”
That’s all for today. I’ll do another post with more of her “intelligence” later.
